intermission in rose by netghost intermission in rose by netghost
Plugged in my tablet and started to draw a dark and stormy night. I'm not good at planning images.
So here's the test, does anyone still know I exist ;)
Anyways, just a fun picture to get back in the habit of drawing, I think my tablet is near death.

The download includes a zip file with the original photoshop 5.5 psd, play with it as you like, who am I to tell you what it's supposed to look like? Try inverting the background, and enjoy.

Nevermind... deviantart has changed how they do previews and such, so that's just not going to work. The zip file remains a mystery to the world until my blog goes live (bug me about that).

Resources:
2 Cross stich books, 1 book on Sumi-e art, a painting at the Seattle Art Museum (no you won't guess which), my tablet, some glitchiness, 2 IMs, and a sense of guilt for not drawing.

Would have loved it all if it wasnt for the corners. The flower is beautifull!

An intriguing, compelling and somehow romantic picture. The colours suggest a dusky sky, and the ephemeral nature of the flower feels as if you could reach out and try to touch it, only for your fingers to slip through it. A beautiful picture.

Very nice. I'm not entirely sure about the squigglies on the four corners. They are bit distracting. I love the flower...it's a very strong element in there and I think that the squigglies take away from it.

It's been too long man, much too long... anyway, an interesting picture with some interesting choices, like the pixelation / nature / ghost theme. The flower looks so nice and frail, as fleeting as smoke...

As always, this is brilliant in a sort of simple, understated way that most artists simply can't touch or even approach. I love how you work in 'tech' elements, your glitches, without them taking over or detracting from the image.

I do wish the scrollwork bits in the corner were less blurry on this one, however -- the pixelation looks almost unintentional, maybe if you added a bit more blur or "wind" it would help them mesh better. Just a thought.

Like you, I've been away from DevArt and art in general for far too long now, and I'm trying to get back in to the swing of things... necessitated by my decision to switch schools and major in graphic design.

Anyway... hope to see more of your work. It's -always- a welcome change.

pixelation was very intentional ;) It was hand drawn and then pixelated for some sort of effect I found entertaining.
