Well, this isn't very pretty, but it's cool instead, so stick with me here! I haven't been posting much art recently because I've been working on a little graphics program of my own.

So very briefly, take a look at the points on the screen, and they explain what's going on. What you don't see is some of the design, and underlying features. So here's a quick overview:
Tablet Support: You can attach the tablet's pressure to arbitrary properties for each filter. This means that as you draw, the filter is updated. Right now I am demonstrating this with the "HSB Adjust" (Hue, Saturation, Brightness) filter, though you could just as easily attach it to the "Pixelate" filter, and have the brush grow more pixelated as you press harder.
Filter Stacks: Multiple filters can be applied to a brush image in realtime. Adjust any property and the resulting image is recalculated.
Layers: They aren't shown, because I haven't written the interface for them yet, but when I get around to it, layers should also work.
Java: Aspire is written in Java, so it should be able to run on any operating system that has a Java Virtual Machine (Windows, MacOS, Linux, etc), with a little cleaining up on my part.
Disclaimer: Java is not slow! Poorly written Java is slow ;) So I don't wanna hear any complaints!

This isn't anywhere near worth releasing to anyone, it needs a lot of cleaning, and some optimizing. Additionaly, it's nowhere near being feature complete.

Anyways, this is what I've been doing ;) Leave me a comment if you have any suggestions or want to play with this when it's a little more... usable :)

(Note: Screenshot was annotated in Photoshop, just so ya don't think this does any more than paint right now! )

This program sounds interesting, and I'd love to try it out sometime.
But take your time.
I know that programing is extremely tedious, and the last thing you want is to be rushed.

What an ambitious project! :wow:

It's a great idea and you seem to be coming along with it quite nicely. I'd love to test it at some point, and I can't wait to see what kind of art you pull off using it.

That looks so darn cool and I still have no idea what you are doing. I'm a little slow sometimes :) ... you have the coolest icon on DA, write fun descriptions, and have a most unique style, and now this to add is more like you've "arrived" rather than are "aspiring" =D

...and I want one of these too. =P

Has that idea been done before? Plugging the tablet's pressure into a configurable filter? That is one very boss idea.

Not that I know of, it should be super boss ;)
